අපේ රටේ දී සෙවිල්ල වූ Finding Out
British old children's magazines are full of beautiful, colourful
illustrations and valuable knowledge. That's why it's my hobby to search the
internet for those old magazines. That's why so many magazines like Look and
Learn, Jack and Jill, Look in, Rocket, Boys World came into my collection. There
was a magazine I could not find on the internet. That's it. More than three
issues of that magazine could not be found on the Internet. But fortunately, I
came across an old bookstore in about seventy volumes in very good condition. I
paid Rs. 150 each and brought them home as happy as got a crown.
Meanwhile, a blogger named Nanda Wanninayake had published
about a magazine called Sewilla and he wanted to know what its English language
magazine was. When I told him about them, he came to my home one day to pay a
lot of attention to them and show me how much he loved them.
I also told my British friend Peter Mansfield, who gives me lots
of books books, about these magazines and took steps to upload them to our
Google group. Most of the magazines that are now available on the internet are
the ones that I have uploaded.
බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය පැරණි ළමා සඟරා ඉතා ලස්සන, වෛවර්ණ චිත්‍රවලින් සහ අගනා දැනුම කරුණුවලින් සමන්විත ඒවා ය. ඒ නිසා ම අන්තර්ජාලය පීර පීරා එම පැරණි සඟරා සෙවීම මාගේ විනෝදාංශයකි. Look and Learn, Jack and Jill, Look in, Rocket, Boys World වැනි සඟරා රාශියක් මාගේ එකතුවට පිවිසියේ එබැවිනි. අන්තර්ජාලය කොතරම් පීරුව ද මට සොයාගත නොහැකි සඟරාවක් විය. ඒ Finding Out ය. එම සඟරාවේ කලාප තුනකට වඩා අන්තර්ජාලයේ සොයා ගැනීමට නොමැති විය. නමුත් කුමක්දෝ වාසනාවකට පරණ පොත් කඩයක තිබී කලාප හැත්තෑවකට ආසන්න ගණනක් ඉතා ම හොඳ තත්ත්වයෙන් ඉරකුදු නොඇඳ, කොළයකුදු නොනමා තිබිය දී මට හමුවූයේ අහම්බයකිනි. එකකට රුපියල් 150 බැගින් ගෙවා ඒවා ගෙදර ගෙන ආවේ රටක් රාජ්‍යයක් ලැබුණා මෙන් සතුටකිනි.
ඒ අතර නන්ද වන්නිනායක නම් මහත්මයෙකු විසින් ලියන වන්නි බ්ලොග් අඩවියේ සෙවිල්ල නම් සඟරාවක් පිළිබඳ පළවී තිබූ අතර ඔහුට එහි ඉංග්‍රීසි සඟරාව කුමක් ද යන්න දැන ගැනීමට වුවමනා වී තිබිණි. මා ඔහුටමේවා පිළිබඳ කී විට ඔහු දිනෙක බොහෝ දුර ගෙවා ඒවා බලන්නට මා නිවසට ආවේ ඒවාට ඔහු කොතරම් ඇලුම් කරන්නේ ද යන්න පෙන්වමිනි.
එසේ ම මා වෙත මෙම පොත් ලබා දෙන මාගේ බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය ජාතික මිතුරු පීටර් මැන්ස්ෆිල්ඩ් හට ද මා මෙම සඟරා ගැන පැවසූ අතර ඒවා අපගේ ගූගල් සමූහයකට උඩුගත කිරීමට පියවර ගත්තෙමි. දැන් අන්තර්ජාලයේ හමුවන එම සඟරා බොහාමයක් මා විසින් උඩුගත කළ ඒවා ය.
This magazine was first published in Britain in 1962. The
magazine was published in the form of an encyclopedia numbered and published in
competition with Look and Learn. College writings, English lessons, art
lessons, history stories and folktales are published in a variety of colorful
and beautiful paintings. By the time the two magazines came together in 1967,
there were about 240 Finding Out issues. You can currently download about 12 of
those magazines, and I hope to present everything I have in the future.

මෙම සඟරාව පළමු වරට බ්‍රිතාන්‍යෙය් පළ වී ඇත්තේ 1962 වසරේ දී ය. එම සඟරාව විශ්වකෝෂයක ස්වරූපයෙන් පිටු අංකනය වෙමින් පළ වූ අතර එරට Look and Learn සඟරාව සමග තරග කරමින් ප්‍රකාශයට පත් විය. විද්‍යාලිපි, ඉංග්‍රීසි පාඩම්, චිත්‍ර පාඩම්, ඉතිහාස කතා සහ ජනකතා විවිධ වර්ණ අලංකාර සිතුවම්වලින් සැරසී සිත්ගන්නා සුලු අයුරින් ඒවා ප්‍රකාශයට පත් වී ඇත. 1967 දී එම සඟරා දෙක එකතු වන විට Finding Out කලාප 240ක් පමණ ප්‍රකාශයට පත් වී තිබිණි. දැනට ඔබට එම සඟරා 12 ක් පමණ බාගත කරගත හැකි අතර මා සතුව ඇති සියල්ල ඉදිරියේ දී ඉදිරිපත් කිරිමට බලාපොරොත්තු වෙමි.
ඒවා ඔබේ දූ දරුවන්ට අගනා තිළිණයක් වනු ඇති බවට මම විශ්වාස කරමි.
1963 වසරේ දී ගුණසේන සමාගම මගින් ප්‍රකාශයට පත්කරන ලද සෙවිල්ල සඟරාව පිළිබඳ නන්ද වන්නිනායක මහතා තම බ්ලොග් අඩවියේ තබා ඇති රසවත් සටහන් මෙමගින් කියවන්න.
